No More Empty Pots (NMEP) has a mission to serve as a conduit, connecting individuals and groups to improve self-sufficiency and economic resilience of local urban and rural communities by strengthening infrastructure and access to our local foods system.
No More Empty Pots' vision is to support communities in becoming self-sufficient and food secure through collaboration and adherence to our core values of Education: Consumers, Producers and Our Youth; Stewardship: Land Use and Community Resources; and Sustainability: Triple Bottom Line - People, Planet, and Profit.
No More Empty Pots addresses food security, education and economic opportunity with a systems approach to solutions. Since 2010, No More Empty Pots has worked as a collective impact organization bringing several entities in different sectors of the food system together to map current and pending activities, identify gaps, engage the community, plan and participate in community events, and submit collaborative funding proposals. With each interaction and further engagement, NMEP has refined strategic plans, action plans, pilot programs, and activities while expanding a support base locally and regionally, and focusing on the target audience.
No More Empty Pots is currently developing a food hub based on a system of interdependent activities that include several components: commercial kitchens, community café, cold and dry storage, and food systems focused incubator/accelerator rooted in proven models that deliver positive outcomes in job training, workforce readiness, food waste reduction, healthy food access in underserved areas, income generation and business development. Because No More Empty Pots’ mission is education focused and we believe in intergenerational engagement, a Kids Kitchen for hands-on youth oriented STEM education involving food is also included in the plans.
