I am Elizabeth (Lisa) and work in ‘Food Justice’ - I support, promote and lobby for ‘True’ food security based on sustainable food production.
I have been working with and supporting several projects, and organizations through Food Sovereignty UK and Hungry for Rights. (European AFS network ) on recognising the true value and contribution local food production can make, in addressing a range global issues. Food Sovereignty sees local food producers as the answer to true food security and champions their position, in the future of our food system.
There is a growing awareness of the need for a more just food system, one that works for consumers, producers and the planet; there is also pressure for our food systems to be more resilient, productive and sustainable - to address the issue of a growing population, in the face of - water shortages, soil degradation, climate chaos and a finite fossil fuel energy supply.
We believe that acknowledging the part 'local food' plays in addressing global issues, while developing grower networks, sharing best practice, celebrating each others achievements, and ‘just’ connecting with others, strengthens and benefits all parties - and the alternative food system (AFS) movement, as a whole.
