A short history of me and food.
I have always been interested in food. I have been on every diet, food regime, fetish and experiment out there.
I ate bird seed once in an effort to be more light, mostly spiritually light. I was young and impressionable and it really did not work out.
I peeled shrimp in the late “60’s in a “macrobiotic” restaurant for no pay, but a meal, where the philosophy was all you can eat, while surrounded by shaming signs of “Less is more”.
I took cooking classes at the NY Culinary Institute and Peter Kump’s Culinary School (now ICE) because I was tired of working nights in my field. Really, what was I thinking!
There were times of plenty and times of rice and beans. Then there was a windfall of TVP, textured vegetable protein. I can’t even talk about that.
There was Slim-Fast and Weight Watchers and Atkins. And others with names I won’t list, but you know them. There powders too. I have lost thousands of pounds, thanks to them.
Now I am beginning to understand food as a political and societal issue. Childhood obesity, factory farms, food labeling and GMO products, food disparagement acts and antibiotics and hormones in our food supply. I understand food safety a little better also.
So, what can you expect? Some recipes, some sharing, some of my thoughts probably.
Why Three Burner Stove? I believe good food can be simple, inexpensive and easy. I have spent the last 25 years living in a trailer for summers and know this for a fact. It’s all about sharing for me now.
