Niche Meat Processor Assistance Network

Niche Meat Processor Assistance Network

The Niche Meat Processor Assistance Network (NMPAN) is a national network that builds scale appropriate meat processing infrastructure for local meat markets. Many farmers and ranchers do not have access to a slaughterhouse, especially if they are a niche producer such as organic. Existing processing plants may lack separate facilities for organic producers or appropriate inspection status (meat sold outside state borders must be processed in a USDA inspected facility). NMPAN steps in to fulfill these needs and assists the parties involved in local and niche meat marketing by developing resources to improve access and to build capacity for long-term expansion"
