Animal Welfare Plays an Important Role in Sustainable Development

Animal production and animal welfare are linked with ethical, political, economic, environmental and social issues, according to the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations. Slow Food Salone del Gusto in Turin, Italy hosted a conference titled, “Animal Welfare: The Pleasure of Respecting Rights”. The conference highlighted livestock production in ethically and culturally sustainable ways and the crucial role that animal welfare plays in sustainable development.
