Food preservation is the inherently hopeful action of taking the edible abundance of one season and extending its useful lifespan into the future. This can be done through jamming, drying, pickling, smoking, fermenting, packing in salt, pressure canning, suspending in syrup, or covering in alcohol. The hope is to transform and enhance short-lived foods in order to sustain, sate, and satisfy our collective hunger.
