Definition of Technology Readiness Level

Technology readiness level (TRL) is a system used to measure and manage the progress of development and research within a project or organization in order to determine the appropriate transitioning of technology. TRL is used to provide a common understanding of technology status, manage risk, and make decisions about technology funding.
