Aaron French of Civil Eats breaks down the term sustainability — how the term came to be used as it is today, the roots of the word, and how to preserve the meaning of the integrity of the sustainability movement. 'Sustainability' has been appropriated by seemingly everyone. French argues that various uses and roots of the words 'sustain' and 'sustainability' “draw a picture of what sustainable should be: actions that provide nourishment and that can carry the weight of humanity, at length and without interruption.”
